Summer 2004
Jim Mayer, a shareholder at Hascal Sjoholm, has been with the firm since 1980. Jim managed our Smokey Point office from 1993 until 1997, when we consolidated our offices to one location in downtown Everett.
Born and raised in North Everett, Jim has found many ways to give back to the community that he feels has given him so much.
One of these ways is through the Evergreen Kiwanis Club. Jim has been an active member since 1984 and has held various offices. Currently he is serving on the board of directors.
Evergreen Kiwanis sponsors many activities. One activity that holds a special place in Jim’s heart is the assistance the club gives to Special Olympics. Jim’s niece was born with Down Syndrome but that hasn’t held her back. She has won bronze, silver and gold medals in gymnastics and was chosen to represent the state of Washington in the Special Olympics World Games recently held in Dublin, Ireland.
Jim is not the only one in the busy Mayer household who finds time to spend with these special individuals. His children, Jason, Ryan and Lindsay, along with his wife Debbie have all served as coaches and chaperones for Special Olympic events. Approximately 60 to 70 disabled individuals of all ages participate in the program locally.
Another of Jim’s favorite activities that the Evergreen Kiwanis Club sponsors is a “Spin (Special People in Need) Dance” held at Floral Hall on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Jim serves as the chairman of this event providing coffee, cookies, punch and lots of fun to about 200 developmentally disabled participants.
The club raises money for these activities and many more, including scholarships, through the sale of Entertainment Books.
Hascal, Sjoholm & Company, P.S. is proud of the commitment that Jim and his family have made to Evergreen Kiwanis Club and the many groups it supports. If you would like more information about Evergreen Kiwanis Club or its activities, please feel free to give Jim a call at 425.252.3173.
