Fall 2004
Mark Van Wyngarden, a shareholder at
Hascal Sjoholm, has been involved with the Everett Community College Foundation
since 2001. Having grown up in Everett, Mark takes great pride in his
community and the organizations that support it. As a graduate of Everett Community
College, Mark has a special interest in the
continued success of the College and its students.
The Everett Community College
Foundation provides assistance to students as well as College faculty and
staff. This year the Foundation plans to
give approximately $135,000.00 in scholarships to economically disadvantaged
members of the community. These
scholarships are funded by both endowments and various Foundation fundraising
activities.
Because of budget constraints, the
college isn’t always able to fund, on its own, all of the faculty and staff
continuing education and training necessary to provide the best education for
its students. With the Foundation’s
help, more faculty and
staff can have more enrichment opportunities, which in turn benefit the
students.
The Foundation also takes an active
role in helping the College to acquire specialized capital equipment. Some
unique pieces of equipment have made their way into the hands of students,
including an airplane given to the aviation department.
The Foundation sponsors two fundraisers
each year to help fund these programs. The first is the annual spring auction. During this fun-filled evening, the Foundation typically raises in excess
of $100,000 from their generous supporters. The second major fundraiser of the
year is the “Gusto” Wine Festival. This
year the event will take place on October 30
th, at the Marine View Conference Center. Both are open to the public.
Recently, Mark was appointed as
chairman of the finance committee. Dotti
Krzyzanoski, the new Executive Director of the Foundation, comments that “Mark
is a great board member. We have a lot
of work to do, and he has really stepped up to the plate to help us. He has done an excellent
job.”
Hascal Sjoholm & Company, P.S. has
long been committed to giving back to the community where our family, friends
and clients work. The firm is pleased to
support Mark’s efforts with the Everett Community College Foundation. If you
